Lenzing developed a matte version of TENCEL Lyocell specifically to reduce the sheen of denim fabrics. The fibre is designed to scatter light, producing a deeper, less lustrous appearance in dark indigo applications while retaining the smoothness associated with standard lyocell.

Several mill partners participated in the launch, including Arvind, Kipas Denim and Advance Denim. The development shows how a woven fabric's appearance can change through fibre engineering, even before a designer adjusts the weave, yarn colour or garment finishing process.
