A protection-inspired collection from Woolmark and Shima Seiki demonstrates how knit architecture changes garment behaviour. One reversible hoodie used a 15-gauge WholeGarment machine to double-knit wool with technical yarn, creating different appearances on its two sides.

Matching trousers used a 14-gauge SRY flat knitting machine with inlay to develop a more compact fabric. Other collection pieces placed Kevlar yarn at selected locations, illustrating how reinforcement can be integrated through knitting choices rather than applied uniformly across an entire garment.
