Sewport describes NeoShell as an electrospun polyurethane membrane designed for water resistance, air movement and flexibility. The fine-fibre structure provides a route different from the expanded-PTFE systems often discussed in protective clothing. Its role is functional rather than identifying the visible face fabric.

The completed garment still combines layers, seams and design choices. Comparing those details is necessary when evaluating breathability or protection, because a membrane's intended properties do not automatically specify every aspect of the finished outdoor product.
