Crepe refers to textiles with a rippling, three-dimensional surface produced through weaving or treatment. Sewport discusses silk, wool and synthetic versions, commonly used in scarves, dresses and decorative garments. The shared texture therefore does not mean all crepes have the same material basis.

The actual yarn and production method influence drape, weight and delicacy. Two fabrics can look recognisably creped while differing in warmth or stretch, so the surface description should be read alongside the composition.
